History

The name DUROT became known in the Antwerp Shipping circles in 1926, when Mr. Armand Durot represented the passenger services of the well-known shipowners Johnson Line (Rederaktiebolaget Nordsjernan) to the West Coast of the United States.

In 1948 “A.Durot nv” was founded as a Ship Agency in the port of Antwerp focusing on trades with the United States and South America.
As from 1961 Mr. Philip Durot took over the lead of the company and an new area of development was launched. In the early seventies and with the upcoming container traffics, a branch office was opened in Zeebrugge (at the Belgian coastline) and during the eighties investments were made available to acquire companies and open new offices.
In 1995 “Durot Shipping nv” was established to take over the shipping activities and to prepare jointly with its group of associated companies the challenge of the 21st century.

The group activities include Agency Representations, Freight Forwarding, Trucking, Chartering and Ship Owning, Custom Services; in other words customers benefit of an integrated logistic service.

It is also worth-while mentioning that extensive investments in IT developments have been made for electronic exchange of information.
